The green economy has become an increasingly hot topic and the sustainable transformation of natural resources a significant concern of scientific researchers. This economic paradigm is defined as low carbon, resource-efficient and socially inclusive.

On the 27th of February, in Gaia, ISLA, INL and the Autonomous University of Coahuila (Mexico) are organising a Workshop on Biomass, Biorefinery, and Bioeconomy. Miguel Cerqueira, INL researcher from the Food Processing Group, that works on edible and biodegradable films and coatings for packaging, encapsulation of functional compounds using emergent encapsulation technologies, and the structuring of gels, such as emulgels and oleogels, will give a talk about “Edible and Biodegradable Films and Coatings for Packaging from renewable sources”.
