EuroNanoForum will show why Digital, Industry, and Space need Nanotechnology

The EURONANOFORUM 2021 is an important annual conference that will address the role of nano-enabled technologies and industries in the transformation towards EU prosperity. The event will bring forward the role of research and innovation, as well as the opportunities offered by the EU’s next framework programme, Horizon Europe, and will bring together experts across different sectors to identify policy options and priorities.

In addition to sharing insights on technical, industrial, and social challenges, views and ideas will be discussed on the role of nanotechnology and advanced materials on EU recovery. Digitalization will be one of the main themes discussed in this empowering conference because it is radically changing our societies as well as business processes and industries.

But while digital technologies offer enormous opportunities, they also pose important societal questions related to, for example, their rapidly growing energy consumption, their inclusiveness, and their role in addressing pressing challenges such as climate change. At the same time, space science and technologies are key drivers towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As examples, space-based services and technologies can enhance resilience against natural disasters, help monitor water, and air quality, and contribute to sustainable agriculture and the monitoring of food production and security.

To benefit our societies, research into new technologies and industrial processes needs to be coupled with value-driven research, to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. Cross-sectorial and interdisciplinary collaborations will be of paramount importance in this respect, while the combination of fundamental and applied science is the way forward if Europe aspires to become a global leader in these domains.

Nanotechnology is crucial and one of the main key enabling technologies to develop new solutions, to promote digitization and technological progress that the European Union needs to achieve its objectives, to be competitive, and to shape all sectors of the economy and society.

The new world will help revolutionize both industry and society and reinforce Europe’s global industrial leadership. Join us at the EuroNanoForum 2021 and learn from the best how to build a competitive, digital, low-carbon, and circular industry, ensure a sustainable supply of raw materials, develop advanced materials and provide the basis for advances and innovation in global challenges to society.
