INL joins INDEX - Biennial of Art and Technology as an institutional partner and through our Scale Travels Residencies

INL joins INDEX - Biennial of Art and Technology as an institutional partner and through our Scale Travels Residencies - a collaborative program on Art and Nanotechnology with gnration that explores and expands the creative possibilities of Science, Technology and Arts.

INDEX is part of the program of the city of Braga as a UNESCO Creative City for the Media Arts and the 2022 edition will thematically explore the notion of Surface. Either as visual platforms or haptic entities, boundaries or interfaces, zones of emergence or extraction, Surfaces represent vital elements of both human and natural ecosystems. They also constitute powerful metaphors for artistic practices concerning technology, raising important issues that urgently need to be addressed.

Under Scale Travels, Jonathan Uliel Saldanha presents Lago Libidinal (Libidinal Lake), a multi-scale piece that shows a lymphatic network of inorganic derivatives that feeds on the continuous and constant flow of data referring to stock market fluctuations. And Jana Winderen presenting Surviving the Impact of Raindrops - an eight-channel sound installation made for the project Scale Travels, executed under a residency with the Water Quality Group at INL in autumn 2021. This composition is based on recordings she has made both above and below the surface of the water, of fish, crustacea, aquatic insects and bats.

Comprising exhibitions, performances, conferences and educational content, Index presents a particular perspective on Art and Technology in Contemporary Art, placing the Surface at a central level between the 12 and the 22 of May 2022.
